Gamble's Claywall Plantation
Each
year 2,500 mallard ducks are released on the property. We have
spent seven years
recreating wetlands and duck ponds and continue to do so each year. A
variety of waterfowl have inhabited the property including wood ducks,
mallards, ring necks, and teal. We have been involved with CRP programs
for over ten years now. There has been a great comeback with wild quail
on the property, though we continue to supplement with release birds. Gamble's Claywall
Plantation is a mallard duck,
quail, pheasant, and chukar preserve, having an extended hunting
season from October 1st to March 31st.
Below are descriptions
of each type of hunt including the season, time of day, what we
provide, and things you need to bring with you. (While
we provide dogs for duck and quail hunts, we still encourage hunters to
bring their own if desired. Many times you can get much more out of
your
hunting experience when you have your pooch working with you.)
